The 1950-D Jefferson Nickel is an odd coin indeed, due to the small mintage figures and mass hoarding. There were a meer 2,000,000 coins produced, one of the smaller productions of the Jefferson Series. These coins were hoarded upon release, so Mint State examples are very plentiful.
